Focus on businesses that really are economically active.

In the era of GDPR and overflowing mail boxes, many businesses return to the classical postal service. But that is a fairly costly affair. Unless of course, based on the Activity Score, you can significantly improve the efficiency and conversion of your campaigns.

The Activity Score, a score of 0 to 10, measures the extent of activity development for every Belgian company. The lower the score, the lower the chance that a company is really economically active. Even if it is registered as active in the KBO. But why would you invest time, money, and energy into businesses that develop little or no economic activity? The odds of selling anything there are very small. In other words, wasted effort. That time, money, and energy is better invested in other companies.

Initially for the courts

Initially the Activity Score was developed for the courts. Because, there is a clear link between businesses that show limited to no activity on the one hand and all kinds of fraudulent activities on the other hand. So, the courts use the score to detect phantom businesses and combat fraud. Are you running the risk of dealing with a fraudulent company?

Defining the target audience

But, the Activity Score is also very useful for defining your target audience more accurately. Of all companies in Belgium, about 61% is actually active. For sole traders that figure is 28%. Therefore, you are really doing yourself a favour to firstly - based on the Activity Score - focusing your efforts on that portion of companies.

You’re better off excluding businesses that are not financially active. Do the math, see how much you’ll save in terms of printing and sending brochures, cards, or catalogues that you then intend to follow-up on by telephone as well.

Always generating profit

That means that the size of your database reduces, but its quality will be many times better. Besides, you will also end up spending less money maintaining that smaller database. So, you always profit: lower costs, better selection, higher conversion. More success in your campaigns.
